The Gianduja Chocolate, enriched with whole Piedmont Hazelnuts is a unique delicacy that is accessible to everyone. The mixture today known as gianduja was born in Piedmont in 1806 when Napoleon ordered the "continental blockade" making it very difficult and expensive to find cocoa in the kingdom of Savoy. Therefore confectioners from Turin, knowing the merits of Piedmont Hazelnuts, ground them into a paste with which they "diluted" chocolate. This mixture then took the name of the mask of Turin Gianduja.
